We are seeking candidates who can serve the Central and Southern Markets such as: Marco Island, Fort Myers, Miami, West Palm Beach and the markets in between at this time.

Under the direction of the Manager, Delivery Enablement, the full-time I-CAR Instructor is responsible for delivering I-CAR training to individuals in the collision repair inter-industry in accordance with established training procedures. I-CAR Instructors must be technically skilled in the collision repair process and may deliver training in multiple formants pending skillsets. Primary responsibilities will focus on delivering welding training and certification, along with other hands-on skills development courses that focus on various aspects of the collision repair process. This position requires extensive knowledge of I-CAR welding courses, welding technology, and automotive collision repair. Work requires travel to local and distant collision repair shop locations and a high attention to detail. Pending skillset, the full-time I-CAR Instructor may be asked to deliver training via virtual training.

  • Instructor must have experience in the collision repair process including but not limited to automotive welding, MIG Brazing, structural repair, squeeze type resistance spot welding, steel and aluminum dent removal.
  • Experience in performing these activities is a plus, with knowledge of how these procedures are performed is desirable.
  • Instructor must maintain current I-CAR WTC Certifications as needed.

Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • The full-time Instructor works with assigned collision repair shops to assess shop welding capabilities, train and test technicians’ knowledge and skills as it relates to welding, and other collision repair procedures.
  • Travel to assigned collision repair shops to assess shop welding capabilities and administer live welding events to shop employees.
  • Available for administering I-CAR welding events during regular business hours, and will be asked to travel out of town or state. Some training on nights and weekends may also occur, but weekly schedules can be adjusted to accommodate.
  • Administer a formal certification welding exam on a consistent basis, and be able to document exam results.
  • Follows proper training protocol to become qualified to deliver training for each product.
  • Performs I-CAR training courses for collision repair professionals in accordance with I-CAR standards, standard operating procedures and requirements.
  • Promotes the benefits of I-CAR training to all industry segments, including collision repair businesses, insurance offices, vendors, and career and technical schools and colleges.
  • Prepares for each class by ordering materials in a timely manner, reviewing I-CAR course content, and including any course updates.
  • Constantly improves technical knowledge in subject area of courses taught.
  • Constantly improves presentation skills to better deliver material, avoid distractions, and enhance each individual’s learning experience.
  • Constantly improves training skills, including the use of questions, effective answers to questions, and group exercises.
  • Develops or obtains props that are relevant to the material and address hands-on learning styles.
  • Conducts I-CAR training effectively by starting on time, managing breaks, and ending on time as appropriate.
  • Verifies and completes attendance form and completion results, utilizing the proper system and process.
  • Administers final grading criteria as determined by course type.
  • Attendance at various training sessions will be required
  • May be asked to attend pilot classes or review specific training materials.
  • Completes processes relating to expense reports and training event administration per established expectations.
  • Participate in observations by a member of the Quality team and work collaboratively with their manager to improve the quality of I-CAR training.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of five years of related experience in the industry is required. Prior involvement with I CAR is strongly desired, including I-CAR class attendance as a student. Platinum Individual status and previous training experience are preferred, but not required. ASE certification is encouraged.
  • A high school education is required with post-secondary education in collision repair recommended. At least two years' experience working as a collision repair technician, estimator, or auto physical damage appraiser is required and teaching experience is a plus. Math, reading, and science skills are expected to understand vehicle systems, manufacturer’s procedures, and diagnostics.
