Fellow, Emergency Management - 472301


SUMMARY:

The Emergency Management Fellow will assist the Director of Emergency Management in multiple departmental projects. This position’s primary focus will be on planning, specifically updating the universities Continuity of Operation Plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Planning

  • Develops, assesses, revises and maintains emergency management program plans, policies and procedures to include the Continuity of Operations Plans.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining Continuity of Administration Plan.
  • Works with all relevant sectors of the campus to assure that continuity is integral to business and emergency planning.
  • Assists in evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of exercises and incident or event responses through the use of After-Action Reports.

Preparedness Engagement and Training and Exercise

  • Presents educational training and awareness campaigns to include New Employee Orientation when the Director is unavailable.
  • Assists in developing and executing the training and exercise plan.
  • Assists in evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of exercises and incident or event responses through the use of After-Action Reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of emergency response and management, risk assessment, and mitigation.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles of emergency preparedness in order to provide education, training, and awareness.
  • Thorough knowledge in policy implementation and interpretation for CEMP (EOP) and COOP
  • Certification through IAEM or VEMA preferred.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • One to three years in emergency management preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college is preferred but not required (May 2023 and 2024 graduates accepted). Advance degree or certificate in Emergency Management, a related field, or training/work experience that equates to an advanced degree is preferred.

WORK HOURS:

  • Part-time, limited term, non-exempt position
  • Schedule is flexible based on average of 10 -15 hours a week, less than 1,000 hours per year
  • Remote work available 90% of the time
  • Expected to respond to emergency situations and designated special events that impact the University

SALARY STRUCTURE:

$15.00 per hour
