Job Summary

The Facilities Engineer reports to the Manager of Engineering and is responsible for the preservation and economical operation of the Institute’s mechanical systems and utility infrastructure. The Facilities Engineer analyzes and maintains documentation for campus mechanical systems, and provides technical consultation, manages capital projects, and develops long range planning for campus mechanical and utility infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
• Seven (7) years of experience with both the design and operation of major mechanical systems
• Project management experience
• Experience using CAD software

Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

• Designation as a Registered Professional Engineer
• Experience with contract administration

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to read and understand construction documents, specifications, contracts
• Knowledge of construction mediums, tools, equipment, and standards
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical building systems and cost to operate those systems.
• Working knowledge of architectural programming processes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD
• Ability to handle multiple fast-paced projects and tasks.
• Ability to meet deadlines while under pressure.
• Ability to anticipate and proactively solve problems.
• Demonstrated Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
