In this role, you will assist SMSC Land Department with maintaining, monitoring, reconstructing, restoring, and reporting on surface and ground water quality and quantity within the rules, ordinances, guidelines, and policies established by the General Council, the Business Council and federal law. Job Duties:

Water Resources Track:

• Monitors water resources and collects samples from lakes, streams, wetlands and groundwater for water quality and biological information.
• Use, maintain, calibrate, and clean tools and equipment for water quality sampling and measurement. May work with vendors to coordinate purchase or repair of equipment.
• Assist in report creation to account for activities related to grant funding and help with budgeting duties.
• Collect weather station data.
• Conduct record collection, data management, or archival work to organize, visualize, or preserve important information related to Land Department activities.
• Create lesson plans and materials for environmental education efforts for community members, staff and youth.
• Collect spatial data involving GPS or UAV systems and interpret data with GIS or related software.
• Inspects construction sites and storm water BMPs and provides clear and organized communication and documentation through file system creation and maintenance.

Job Requirements:

Reflects MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATION and EXPERIENCE required in order to meet the expectations of this job:

• Bachelor’s Degree in hydrology, geology, or related field.
• Three years of work experience in related field with knowledge of hydrology, biology, and scientific research methods.
• Three years of experience with water quality and quantity measurement techniques.

Additional Requirements include:

• Three years of experience using GPS and GIS (ArcMap, ArcPro, ArcCollector, Survey 123) preferred.
• Ability to lead a team in the field or work independently with a positive attitude.
• Strong verbal and written communication with attention to detail.
• Must be detail oriented.
