Job Description:
Job Summary
Provide architectural Leadership for the Southwest Airlines IT systems and business processes with focus on specific domains and/or programs. Model exemplary Servant Leadership as People Leader for a Team of Solution Architects or Analysts. Lead the development and enhancement of reference architecture patterns that make up the Enterprise Architecture.
We are looking for strategic leader that can cast a compelling vision and partner closely with our Crew business stakeholders to translates their business outcomes into a executable technology strategy to advance our critical capabilities in the Crew Scheduling & Recovery space in enabling the airline of tomorrow. In this role you will have people responsibility accountability with a team of Solution Architects responsible for capabilities within the Scheduling & Recovery domains.

Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and coach a Team of Solution Architects or Analysts
Lead, support, and influence achievement of Enterprise goals and objectives through relevant architecture strategy and direction
Define and document the current and future architectural state of the Enterprise, including performing gap analysis and generating transitional architectures
Define, promote, and enforce Enterprise standards and industry best practices, including maintaining reference architectures that model solution expectations
Ensure ongoing architectural solutions align to Enterprise goals and standards
Maintain active relationships with relevant business and technology Leadership and Stakeholders
Research and evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain ongoing architectural relevancy
Seek opportunities to improve SWA technical competency
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of technology systems and related theory, practices, and concepts
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
Ability to understand and apply information to contribute to the organizations strategic plan
Ability to bring others together and trying to reconcile differences
Ability to use persuasive verbal and non-verbal techniques with Executive and non-Executive-level Stakeholders to achieve the desired architectural outcomes
Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)
Ability to translate deep and complex technical concepts into easy to understand language for Stakeholders
Skilled in diagramming software (Microsoft Visio, draw.io)
Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field and/or equivalent formal training
Experience
Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
Fully functioning, broad knowledge in a Business, engineering, and/or Information Technology environment
Builds effective relationships at Business and Technology stakeholders at Director and above. They are viewed as a trusted advisor for their portfolio they are accountable for
Effectively translates business execution outcomes into technology strategy.
Provides clarity of vision to drive consensus and alignment across business/technology to ensure Program level initiatives are enabling portfolio level business outcomes.
Drives collaboration across architecture practice to ensure we are modeling a one team mindset and supports healthy debate/dialogue to arrive to a better answer.
Models a "Heart of a Teacher" actively coaching SA team to ensure they are setup for success and seeks out opportunities to challenge and grow the SA team underneath them. Ensures everyone feels seen/heard and they can connect their work to the broader Operations strategy.

Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information
Air travel with frequent overnight stays required
Ability to work extended hours as needed

Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $166,850 per year to $185,400 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For elidable leadership individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company
