I Am Abiomed | I Am Heart Recovery | Patients First!

Abiomed is a fast-paced medical device company with a portfolio of percutaneous heart pumps that improve and save the lives of patients around the world. As the Engineering Project Manager (PM), you will make significant contributions to innovative technologies in Abiomed's preCARDIA platform to address acute decompensated heart failure. The role is responsible for key engineering project deliverables while managing project scope, budget, and timeline. The PM is responsible for reviewing and reporting on the overall program and making technical decisions with support staff. Understanding the technical activities within the project, early identification of risks and their mitigations, and maintaining critical path are key criteria for the position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages day-to-day project schedule, risk trackers, and performance commitments to aid in fulfilling program, project, or system objectives.
• Responsible for weekly meetings, minutes, presentations, and project updates to ensure progress and adequate communication through the development cycle and beyond.
• Coordinates scrum and project/technical meetings both internal (cross functional or engineering team) and external (vendors and contract manufacturers).
• Defines high level strategies and scenarios while identifying opportunities for increasing project effectiveness and efficiency.
• Lead project phase reviews and technical design reviews (where applicable) in accordance with design controls.
• Supports the generation of risk documentation including FMEAs (Faliure Modes and Effects Analysis) and hazard analysis.
• Promotes teamwork within the program and facilitates cross-functional enrollment and communication.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering, or related scientific discipline.
• 5+ years’ experience leading and executing the coordination of programs/projects and the delivery of products in engineering/R&D teams.
• Exceptional project coordination skills while being able to multi-task and meet multiple project schedules on time.
• Strong verbal and written communication, analytical/problem solving, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity presenting on and explaining projects at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to understand and apply applicable FDA regulations and company operating procedures, processes, policies, and rules.
• Proficiency with MS PowerPoint, MS Project, MS Visio, MS Excel.
• Proficiency with project budgeting and forecasting
• 10% Travel (project dependent)
