Job description

Pet+E.R. believes in a team-oriented approach to patient care. Our technicians have direct case oversight and management with our Emergency Clinicians. Senior technicians mentor and guide newer technicians to build their level of expertise. Our hospitals are VECCS Level II certified, a designation earned by only the most highly qualified emergency and critical care veterinary hospitals in terms of staff qualifications, equipment and facility amenities. Pet+E.R. is located within Chesapeake Veterinary Referral Center in its Towson and Columbia locations, and our team works in tandem with specialty practices including surgery, internal medicine & oncology, cardiology, neurology, ophthalmology and dentistry. Many of our patients have comorbidities that require working closely with the other specialty practices to provide top line, comprehensive medical care.

Our technicians work autonomously and think critically. We work hard to support a learning environment where technicians receive the support to pursue licensing credentials and specialty credentials.

Our veterinary technicians cover multiple shifts in our busy ICU including triage, in-hospital care, outpatient care and overnight specialty patient care. Applicants who have achieved certification (RVT, CVT, LVT) are preferred, but team members with experience in patient care, anesthesia/surgery monitoring, in-house laboratory operation, phlebotomy/IV catheter placement and radiology will be considered. We are always accepting applications for all shifts but we are currently hiring priority for swing, overnight emergency and overnight specialty ICU technicians. Overnight staff members receive a night differential in addition to their hourly pay rate.

Pet+E.R. has recently undergone substantial growth and is looking for experienced and highly motivated veterinary technicians to join our fast-paced, state-of-the-art, 24-hour emergency and critical care team. We pride ourselves on an open and welcoming work environment where employees can feel safe to learn from their co-workers and seek guidance from a variety of clinicians and specialists. Management strives to maintain close working relationships with all employees to take into consideration their concerns or suggestions for continued innovation and expansion of our services and patient care. Our leadership team's focus is to assist our employees in setting goals and identify internal growth possibilities, reviewed on a quarterly and annual basis.

VTS candidates are also encouraged to apply. Sponsorship of your VTS journey, educational support , skill set growth opportunities and a team experienced in VTS candidacy will help you achieve your goals. Our Veterinary Nursing Development team provides additional higher level support with CE opportunities such as case log review and application overview. Example resources include VTS Discovery webinar, How to Get Started on the VTS Journey webinar, Common Pitfalls of the VTS Application webinar and Case Logs webinars as well as support groups of others seeking their advancement.

Compensation is based on experience - range provided on Indeed is a suggestion and is not guaranteed. All full-time staff receive excellent healthcare benefits, 401K, employee-owned pet discounts, and opportunities for professional development and continuing education.
