Position Summary:

Assigned to a field engineering construction organization in a supervisory capacity. The applicant will be responsible for providing technical assistance, direction, and support to Bechtel and subcontractor field supervision for Civil Construction related activities.


Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include but is not limited to, the following:

  • Providing support to field supervision in establishing requirements for manpower, tools, equipment, and material requirements for a given work evolution
  • Performing inspections and initiating supporting documentation for the Civil scope on an ongoing basis. Interpretation of design related issues associated within scope of work.
  • Preparing short- and long-term schedules, and interfacing with the superintendents, subcontractors, and other discipline field engineers
  • Ensuring all installations are per latest revisions of design drawings, specifications, standards, and codes
  • Acting as point of contact for coordination and resolution of all technical issues related to select subcontractors on site who provide technical services for the execution of the civil scope of work, including initiating all formal subcontract change documentation to support the subcontract administrator
  • Completing and verifying quality documentation per inspection and test plans
  • Preparing field material requisitions for equipment and materials, and monitoring status of purchase orders and deliveries
  • Completing final system walk-downs, deficiency tracking and close-out Executing field material takeoffs from "Issued for Construction" drawing
  • Assisting field procurement in receipt inspection and reporting of associated equipment and materials and preventive maintenance requirements
  • Trouble-shooting the design, resolving issues with engineering and/or fabricator using formal field documentation processes
  • Providing input to the quantity tracking applications and reporting on weekly installed quantities to Project Controls
  • Completing and reviewing as-built documentation
  • Monitoring actual work performance compared to the project budget and schedule.
  • Overall technical responsibility for the civil scope.


Qualifications and Skills:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction related discipline from an accredited university, and 12 years of progressive, construction, quality, or engineering related experience. In lieu of a degree 15 years of progressive, construction, quality, or engineering related experience
  • Extensive experience in civil construction on large projects
  • General awareness of environmental laws
  • Excellent problem-solving ability


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a team-based environment, knowledge of project specific environmental compliance requirements, general awareness of environmental laws, awareness of government compliance standards
  • Previous supervisory experience within civil discipline
  • Prior Bechtel experience
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and Bechtel database applications
  • Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in clear and concise manner
