The District Safety Coordinator manages school safety and security programs and provides direct support to administrators. Performs administrative tasks in developing, implementing and managing programs designed to effectively address safety and security needs of students and staff in all schools and programs. Serves as point of contact for emergency communications with schools, community and with emergency responders and coordinates the school crises response programs. Manages emergency response protocols involving threats that have the potential to impact school safety including severe weather or fires. Works with local law enforcement agencies to monitor and coordinate the school resource officer program.

Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, this position will oversee district compliance with required safety and security requirements and provide leadership when responding to emergency or security incidents of all scales that affect the district

SSC will work with school sites to provide training, guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with safety plans and best practices

Will coordinate and manage a district-wide safety program

Work with school site staff to ensure compliance with safety manual processes and procedures

Assist with coordinating communication with the school district and governmental agencies in matters concerning facilities and public safety; represent the district on the county-wide emergency operations team.

Work collaboratively with SROs and district administration to ensure safe campuses and school sanctioned events

Oversee coordination, planning, completion and documentation of school and district office emergency drills

Provide training and support to schools and community on proper responses and procedures for emergencies

Oversee coordination, training and support to schools and community on proper responses and procedures for security issues and emergencies.

Work cooperatively with all administrators, supervisors, colleagues and community

Oversee visitor management system to ensure system, sign-in procedures and badges are utilized effectively

Develop and conduct districtwide safety training for both emergency and general school and workplace safety.

Work collaboratively with principals to ensure their readiness and preparation and conduct training and support for school-site safety teams

Demonstrate professional, ethical behavior and comply with all Board of Education policies and administrative regulations

Perform any other related duties, functions and responsibilities as assigned or deemed necessary by the Superintendents’ office

Coordinates school safety compliance with federal, state, and local regulations by studying existing requirements and new requirements and overseeing and enforcing school-wide adherence to these requirements.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in fields related to Emergency Management, Public Safety, Criminal Justice, or other related fields of study or 5 or more years applicable experience in a related field.

Experience Requirements

Required: Experience in emergency management.

Required: Demonstrated experience in facilities management or public safety programs (3+ years preferred)

Preferred: Experience in law enforcement, public safety, or security

Preferred: Certification in Risk Management, Security or Emergency Management

Additional Requirements

Drivers License: Yes, Valid drivers license with a safe driving record.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $69,960.00 - $122,540.00 per year
