Position Summary:

Under supervision of the Assistant Director or management designee for the Care Management team, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating transfers from the community into UCI Medical Center. These activities include coordination of M.D. to M.D. discussion; verification of benefits and authorization specific to the patient transfer. Uses several computer programs including Access, Microsoft Word, TDS, Invision to verify eligibility, obtain benefit information. Verifies eligibility; communicates/coordinates with medical staff.

Salary Range:
Hourly Rate Minimum $23.94 Midpoint $26.85 Maximum $29.76
Required Qualifications:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Experience in a hospital or medical office setting
Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare insurance
Demonstrated experience with referral authorization process
Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes
Demonstrated ability to interpret health plan benefit packages and make determinations
Must demonstrate general understanding of medical terminology
Experience using Microsoft Office Applications Demonstrated experience with referral authorization process
EMR/LIS knowledge and experience
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
