The ROLE: Director of Brand

The Director of Brand for Every Man Jack will function as the business owner across all segments of our business, leading a cross-functional team. They will be the point person for understanding our consumer, tracking analytical performance to help determine how to drive growth, partnering with Product Development to define our pipeline, and developing an impactful, enduring brand campaign. This role will drive our brand strategy by defining our consumer and customer needs and leading the teams to execute tactics supporting that strategy, in alignment with the Leadership Team. This position will report to the Vice President Marketing, Brand, and Innovation.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

BUSINESS LEADERSHIP

  • Business and P&L leadership across our business segments to ensure strong performance of key products and retailers.
  • Lead cross-functional business team.
  • Monitor and evaluate brand performance and brand budget against plan and stated goals. Make recommendations on adjusting.

INNOVATION & PRODUCT

  • In partnership with Product Development, own robust product pipeline strategy, leveraging consumer and customer insights.
  • Own ongoing product strategy recommendations, based upon consumer, customer, and channel stakeholder needs.
  • Own product marketing across assortment, including innovation and existing items. This includes proposition development, naming, and content development.
  • Partner with Sales to recommend pricing and pack strategies, margin mix, trade spending plans, and distribution goals, with associated KPIs.

MARKETING & BRAND

  • Lead development of “go big” integrated reach campaign, including partnership with external creative agency partners.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to deliver shopper marketing initiatives.
  • Identify and refine consumer target, shopper needs, and customer opportunities using data and insights.
  • Lead overall marketing calendar and product priorities.
  • Drive PR, sampling programs, and partner with sales on trade show marketing.
  • Works closely with the Sales Planning Director to ensure alignment with the sales team.
  • Works across US and Canada.

THE CANDIDATE
Candidates must be highly motivated and have exceptional written and verbal communication, sound judgment, recognized problem-solving abilities and a proven track record of excelling in a self-directed work environment. The ideal candidate will be an intelligent team player – someone approachable with a positive, innovative and professional attitude who works smarter, not harder and takes on a “sleeves-rolled-up” and a “can-do” attitude when faced with challenges. A true ambassador for EMJ, both internally and externally.


Specific Capabilities and Skills required

Ideal candidate will be a successful executive with 10+ years in brand and product experience in CPG and/or beauty. MBA preferred but not required.

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Background in beauty or personal care. Experience with innovation or product development.
  • Knowledge and experience working with mass trade channels (Mass, Grocery, Drug, Natural, Specialty, Ecommerce).
  • Strong fundamental business skills as well as entrepreneurial agility, mindset, and speed.
  • Energy and passion to build a brand, and a brand organization.
  • Ability to quickly turn insights into action. Experience working with syndicated data.
  • A true team player who can work cross functionally to deliver results.
  • Contagious “can do” attitude.
  • Passion for sustainability.
