$4.00/hourly supplemental pay offered.

The Opportunity Tree is a nonprofit organization that provides quality, individualized supports to people with intellectual or developmental disabilities in dynamic and innovative environments.

Job Summary: The Direct Support Professional for the adult day program supports and assists Members with intellectual and developmental disabilities in practicing social, communication, and life skills; promoting independence and informed choice; and community integration.

Essential Job Functions:

• Integrate the Employment First philosophy into all aspects of the program by supporting and encouraging Members in gaining competitive, integrated employment (CIE).
• Schedule and facilitate fun, meaningful, and accessible activities with the Members on a daily basis.
• Encourage Members to develop and maintain positive interpersonal skills.
• Support Members in having positive, inclusive experiences in the community.
• Work with Members on their individualized goals, as outlined in their Person-Centered Support Plan, Behavior Treatment Plan, and therapist/doctor orders, using creative and stimulating methods.
• Assist Members in learning how to complete tasks and activities using verbal, visual, and modeling prompts.
• Provide necessary attendant care to Members, including, but not limited to: assistance in the restroom and daily hygiene needs.
• Assume responsibility for minor maintenance, security of assigned equipment, and advising the supervisor of any needs.
• Assist in developing, implementing, documenting, and monitoring individual Members’ goals and programs.
• Communicate progress and problems in a timely manner to the appropriate staff.
• Perform daily job duties in a safe and healthy manner, including the use of proper techniques when lifting individuals, production/activity materials and completion of First Aid/CPR, as needed.
• Promote and maintain a collaborative and respectful working environment and a line of communication with all stakeholders of The Opportunity Tree.
• Maintain confidentiality of information regarding Members and The Opportunity Tree.
• Compliant with attendance rules.
• Drive The Opportunity Tree vehicles, as needed, maintaining a clean driving record.
• Comply and enforce the Policies, Procedures, and Regulations of The Opportunity Tree.
• Other job duties, as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
• Experience in the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) field (preferred, but not required).
• Personal enthusiasm for participation in a non-profit organization, which provides services for individuals with IDD.
• Positive attitude and ability to represent The Opportunity Tree effectively in the community.
• Communicate in English, speech, write, and read.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic knowledge in using MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, and web browsing.
• Successful completion and maintain all required training which may include CPR, First Aid, and Prevention and Support. Paid training.
• Eligible driver’s license with Non-Restricted Motor Vehicle Record and compliance per the requirements of The Opportunity Tree insurance carrier. Paid mileage reimbursement.
• Successfully meet AZ-DPA requirements for Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Must have reliable transportation.
