Towson University’s Division of University Marketing & Communications (UMC) is currently accepting applications for the position of Digital Media Specialist (DMS). This position will serve as a videographer with Digital Media Services, responsible for producing and delivering marketing and communication content across multiple platforms, including web, social and digital signage. With guidance from the Director and Assistant Director, the primary focus of the Digital Media Specialist (DMS) will be producing video content that supports the strategies and pillars of the university. The ideal candidate will have a love for video and an ability to capture moments that tell a story. Among other responsibilities, the DMS will cover campus events, collaborate with UMC staff to develop story ideas, and assist the team with larger video productions. Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.


Responsibilities and Duties
  • Create video content for UMC for use on, but not limited to, social media, web sites and television.
  • Capture and document university events and other campus footage (b-roll).
  • Collaborate with UMC staff to identify, develop, and produce new projects.
  • Schedule, direct and shoot videos.
  • Edit video footage, create graphics, and export videos.
  • Maintain video equipment and studio.
  • Maintain TU YouTube channel and other distribution methods. Assure that all online videos are properly captioned.
  • Research and recommend AV equipment.
  • Create digital content for UMC for use on, but not limited to, on-campus digital signage, outdoor LED road signs and arena video boards.
  • Schedule graphics and maintain accompanying software.
  • Work with Assistant Director, Director and Office of Technology Services to setup live streaming of major university events (commencement, President's Address, etc.).
  • Test, maintain and update software and equipment, as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Media or similar field by May 2023
  • One year of professional experience with video production or a related field
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a team environment.
  • Must submit a reel or samples of work.
  • Occasional non-traditional work hours.

Preferences

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite products in a MAC environment.
