Description:
The Design Manager will support the US Senior Design Manager and will work within the US Creative team as the Bentonville office ‘in house’ Brand Guardian and creative quality control. Working with the UK Creative team and US Account and Project Management teams the Design Manager will be responsible for ensuring all creative briefs and design files that pass through the Bentonville office are on brief and on brand to meet client expectations.

Creative Briefing

  • Work with Account and Project Management teams to quality control WM creative briefs. Use your knowledge of design, brand guidelines and process to ensure assets and content of the brief is sufficient and accurate. Responsible for preparing, uploading, and managing the creative briefs in Sigma Creative.
  • Work with our US Color team to ensure all creative briefs have at least a basic print spec or a basic understanding of print-ability requirements to achieve the requests made on the WM project brief.
  • Main point of contact between the UK studio and US Account Management team. The Design Manager will support and when needed, collaborate with US Account, Project Management and US Color teams to promptly and efficiently answer questions relating to design projects from brief to handover.
  • Attend all Client Meeting in relation to Creative and Brand building and developing strong and collaborative relationships with the client.
Brand Guardianship & Creative Quality
  • Guardian of creative brand guidelines and ensure they are followed throughout the Creative process.
  • Conduct Range Reviews to ensure quality and consistency of all design files going to client and ultimately to store shelf.
  • Maintain daily design folder on OneDrive for Walmart Design Managers to record, comment and approve.
Photography

  • Request product samples and organize photo shoots in the US.
  • Work with UK Creative Studio to identify the best illustrator for a project(s) ensure the illustrations stay on timeline and budget.
  • Ensure photo briefs written in the UK Creative Studio are accurate and physically achievable.
  • Work with the US Account Manager to get WM approval on site at the photography shoot
  • Work closely with photo studio to ensure the photography is correct to brand standards and approved brief.
  • Manage the estimates and timeline of work staying on target and budget.
Cost Management
  • Ensure the cost for each design project is calculated according to client matrix.
  • Record and maintain projects costs and percentage completion rate on the creative design finance Work in Progress spread sheet.
  • Work closely with UK creative studio manager to ensure all projects run to the budgeted time/cost.
  • Overall responsibile for bringing projects in on time, within budget and to the right quality!

Position Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
  • Graduate Degree in Design/Fine Arts preferred/Masters a plus
  • 3-5 years of Design/Graphic Design experience
  • Up to 3 Years of Design Project Management working with Retail/Brand client preferred
  • Technology tools – Adobe Creative Suite, Power Point, One Drive, One Note, MS Outlook and MS Teams
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Passionate for challenging briefs and a solutions/problem solving approach
Shift:
  • 8am-5pm
