Job description
The Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) has four major operational divisions: Army National Guard, Air National Guard, Civil Air Patrol, and Veterans Affairs. These divisions utilize state and federal resources to provide our communities, state, and nation with a ready military force for national defense and state emergency response as well as providing assistance to our Colorado veterans.

- providing project oversight to ensure specification and code requirements are adhered;
- preparing and maintaining daily construction activity logs;
- facilitating weekly construction progress meetings;
- reviewing change requests, proposals, and orders to make recommendations;
- negotiating prices and technical conditions with contractors and engineering firms;
- reviewing payment requests;
- reviewing technical shop drawings and submittals;
- monitoring project schedules and budget, making changes as necessary;
- ensuring fiscal and procedural rules are adhered;
- overseeing the engagement of contractor safety practices;
- monitoring erosion control, storm water permits;
- assisting Project Managers in the development of budgets, project books, and project forms;
- overseeing the performance of site surveys and investigations to determine project feasibility;
- identifying most economical and efficient procedures for design;
- meet or contact local municipalities, organizations, and related groups to assure proper design consideration for new construction;
- ensuring programming and funding documentation is in order;
- overseeing the preparation of architectural/engineering drawings, specifications, and comprehensive cost estimates for complex facilities and utility systems; and
- performing review and comment milestones of design submittals.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or General Education Diploma, (GED).
Six years of professional experience in construction project management of which included
- two years reviewing drawings, schematics, and blue prints;
- two years serving as management presence on construction sites that included site structures, building foundations, site paving, storm water detention, sanitary sewer, water distribution, erosion control, site layout, parking, and security.
- Must be able to gain and maintain a security clearance within six months of employment.
- Employment is conditional based upon ability to maintain security clearance for duration of employment.
- Must be able to pass a Criminal History background check prior to employment commencing.
- Must be willing to submit to random drug and alcohol testing as required.
