SouthLake Christian Academy is seeking a qualified full-time dean to help foster an engaging and healthy upper school community by providing programming and leadership opportunities that enable students to flourish. The Dean of Students models the highest standards of conduct, supporting the school’s commitment to Christian values. The Dean works under the direction of the Upper School Head to foster the character formation and social/moral development of each SouthLake Christian Academy student. The Dean is responsible for school safety, student discipline, and attendance, partnering effectively with parents in support of these goals.

Requirements of the Role

Actively support the mission, philosophy, and goals of SouthLake Christian Academy.

Promote the standards and good name of the school both internally and externally.

Promote a culture of reverence, respect and responsibility among students in line with SouthLake Christian Academy’s core principles and values.

Oversee student supervision during non-class time, including breaks, lunches, and before and after classes.

Ability to track student discipline and keep accurate records accordingly.

Monitor and facilitate intervention for student attendance as well as academic progress.

Coordinate supervision of school activities and student co-curricular involvement, including school trips.

Monitor and facilitate intervention for academic progress.

Proficient use of educational technology and competence using remote learning platforms. (Google Classroom, ZOOM, Google Meet, etc.).

Effective teacher/parent communication in support of student academic, social, and spiritual growth.

Skills and Qualifications

A vibrant and growing faith in Christ and commitment to a local church community.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Demonstrated ability and desire to embrace ownership of the SouthLake Christian Academy’s mission and the ability to cultivate relationships with students.

High level of interpersonal and leaderships skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations.

Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence.

Demonstrated ability to maintain poise, tact, and diplomacy in all circumstances.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills (oral, written, verbal), ethics, and cultural awareness.

A commitment to working equitably in a diverse and complex community.

Resourceful problem-solver

At least five years of experience working within a high school setting.
