Position summary:

T-Mobile is America’s supercharged Un-carrier, delivering an advanced 4G LTE and transformative nationwide 5G network that will offer reliable connectivity for all. Data Scientist, located in Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ will translate business needs to technical specifications.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Identify, analyze, and interpret patterns in complex data sets and help share customer insights pertaining to tenure and churn reasons with the Leadership Team.

• Determine the optimal method for forecasting, considering the context of the forecast and availability of historic data and metrics. Work with management to understand the scope and develop forecasts for customer churn and migrations from sprint network.

• Help influence go to market strategic roadmap initiatives like new markets, device upgrades based on historical data patterns, competitor, and consumer market research.

• Collaborate with the Digital and Sales team to provide strong decision support and robust recommendations based on data-driven analysis and delivering data narratives.

• Identify untapped and under penetrated pockets of opportunity to defend market share, attack geographic whitespaces and new customer segments.

• Lead planning and requirements for new initiatives from a reporting perspective. Collaborate with stake holders to ensure that reporting expectations across the organization are met as well exceeded.

• Collaborate with the financial planning team to report Revenue Metrics and provide forecast of expected payments to be included in the CLV model.

• Translate business needs to technical specifications. Develop and execute database queries, conduct analyses by acquiring data from an array data sources to provide ongoing reports and develop fact-based recommendations.

• Conceptualize dashboards which present information using advanced data visualization techniques for strategy building and core business decision making.

• Support construction of executive level decks that present complex analytical findings in clear, concise, and decision-impacting manner to T-Mobile Senior Leadership Team.

Skill requirements:

• Experience using database technologies including MSSQL, Teradata, Oracle, and Snowflake to develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses by acquiring data from an array data sources to provide ongoing reports and develop fact-based recommendations.

• Experience in Data Engineering and workflow design tools including Alteryx to develop processes and scheduling to automate the processes and make data readily available for leaders and Google Analytics to understand customer behavior patterns on the web and identify drop out points in the web application process, provide recommendations and measure effectiveness of changes being made to further optimize customer experience on the web.

• Experience using data visualization/ BI tools including Excel and PowerBI to conceptualize dashboards which present information using advanced data visualization techniques for strategy building and core business decision making.

• Experience in Financial Analytics, Customer churn, and forecasting to report Revenue Metrics and provide forecast of expected payments to be included in the CLV model.

• Experience in the Lifeline and Telecom industry to help influence go to market strategic roadmap initiatives including new markets, device upgrades based on historical data patterns, competitor, and consumer market research.

• Experience in presenting analysis and strategies to stake holders and leadership to Collaborate with the Digital and Sales team to provide strong decision support and robust recommendations based on data-driven analysis and delivering data narratives.

• Experience in cross functional team collaboration and communication to Lead planning and requirements for new initiatives from a reporting perspective.

Experience and education requirements:

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in in Information Technology and Analytics, or related, and 1 year of relevant work experience.

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and Analytics or related, and three years of relevant work experience.

Telecommuting is permitted, but applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance.
