Responsibilities:
As companies grow more concerned about their cyber exposure and as the rate of cyber incidents is increasing, FM Global has been leading the insurance industry in terms of cyber protection offerings and coverage that are targeted to the needs of its clients.
As with all other coverage FM Global offers, our focus is on risk improvement. We are working closely with experts within and outside the organization and are building and expanding our in-house research team to specifically focus on cyber related risk and protection.
We are looking for an experienced cyber expert to research and develop practical solutions to reduce cyber exposure for our clients around the world and in all major industries and find ways to minimize impact/recovery time after a cyber-attack. Industrial Control Systems (ICS) /Operational Technology (OT) are a focus area for this position.
The cyber security scientist will take a lead role in our expanding cyber research team. They will have the ability to shape and implement the cyber research direction. A specific focus area will be protecting system in high challenge industries.
Responsibilities Include:
Develop and lead cyber research at FM Global.
Develop/update systems and guidelines to address cyber security of Industrial Control Systems.
Develop innovative solutions for FM Global clients to address the cyber security risks / exposures.
Interface with IT security specialists, and staff engineering at FM Global and at FM Global client locations, as needed.
Qualifications:
Education / Experience:
A PhD or a Masters degree with a minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in cyber security.
A degree in computer science or electrical engineering, instrumentation and control systems, or a related area is preferred!
Desired skills and competency areas:
- Understanding of virtualization (VMware and Hyper-V) and cloud technologies (AWS and Azure).
- Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Process Control Networks (PCN) SCADA, DCS, PLC, HMI, and SIS systems.
- Network design (with layers of protection and isolated traffic flows) with secure communication and reliability.
- Host security technologies and products (such as firewalls, Network IDS and scanners).
- Security risk assessments to identify critical areas/processes and threat vectors to ensure secure logical network designs with layers of protection and controlled traffic.
- Advanced knowledge of TCP and IP protocols, security architecture, and remote access security techniques and products.
- Cyber Incident Management.
- Cyber frameworks and certifications, e.g., CISSP, MITRE ATT&CK, FISMA SANS, CNSS, NIST, COBIT, NERC.
General expectations:
- Ability to communicate with all layers in the organization.

- Ability to self-start and multi-task and work within a high-performance team.
