Position: Custodian

Immediate Supervisor: General Manager

The following are the major responsibilities of the Custodian, but do not describe minor duties or other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time. Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. The Custodian must perform daily routine manual work in the maintenance, sanitation, cleaning and servicing of the building and premises.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, buffing of floors, hallways, stairwells and other premises areas.
• Cleaning and refinishing gym floors as needed.
• Vacuuming and shampooing rugs and carpets.
• Cleaning, polishing and dusting of furniture and fixtures.
• Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and replenishing supplies.
• Washing windows, walls, mirrors and other areas.
• Collecting and disposing of all waste products.
• Assisting with simple repairs.
• Assisting with the relocation of property.
• Reporting of items requiring repair and/or replacement.
• Setting up/tearing down areas needed for special events or meetings.
• Shoveling/plowing snow, sanding/salting walks and steps as needed.
• Picking up debris outside of building.
• Reporting the need for tools and supplies to the lead custodian.
• Working sporting events as needed.
• Performing all other duties assigned by administration or the General Manager.

Working Conditions:

Work outside in extreme weather conditions as well as inside clean, well-lit, well ventilated buildings. Lifting and supporting up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 200 pounds. Occasional ladder climbing and working in high places. Must be aware of the dangers of strains while lifting, pushing or pulling and while working with equipment. Must exhibit safety awareness in working areas with wet, slippery, floors and exposure to hazardous materials.
