We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Control System Team Lead within our Electrical Engineering team to help support our Bedding Engineering Group business in Carthage, MO. As a Control System team Lead you will have the opportunity to lead a team of engineering and support our production systems. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by leading the development of our “Machine Intelligence” and Internet of Things Concept. The team you will be working with is hands on, and values collaborative teamwork.

So, what will you be doing as a Control System Team Lead?

• Leading the Control Systems and Electrical Engineering team
• Conceptualizing, designing, programming, and troubleshooting new machines
• Developing and enhancing existing machine software to develop new products and improve system performance
• Installation and testing of prototype machines
• Apply engineering principles and logical problem solving for projects
• Controlling and monitoring processes
• Identifying new automation and process improvement opportunities
• Work with machine technicians and maintenance personnel to troubleshoot/improve machinery.
• Occasional travel to domestic and global locations, not expected to exceed 15% in this role.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• B.S. in one of the following fields of study or an equivalent: Controls Engineering, Software Development, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or Computer Science
• Five or more years of experience in Industrial Automation
• Ready to take the next step to as a working leader of an engineering team
• A hands-on mindset and technical curiosity

Things we consider a plus:

• TCP/IP, Modbus TCP or Ethernet/IP networking experience
• Familiarity with Siemens programming environments
• Experience with schematics and AutoCAD Electrical
• Knowledge of Electrical Fundamentals
• Familiarity with IEC 61131
• Familiarity with Beckhoff
