BAE Systems is looking for Cloud Operational Support Engineers to join the Mobility Air Force Flight Planning Services (MAFPS) team in Fairview Heights, IL. These engineers are part of a group whose mission is to provide 24/7 operational support of the MAFPS software hosted on the USAF’s Cloud One and respond to all support requests and work with the customer, the Cloud One provider, external data providers and internal development teams to drive issues to resolution.
MAFPS incorporates mission, platform, navigation, airspace, weather and other aeronautical data from authoritative sources to generate and visualize 4-D optimized flight plans that adhere to complex global airspace business rules to support the USAF’s Air Mobility Command’s (AMC) 618th Air Operations Center (AOC) daily worldwide airspace operations. MAFPS is integrated within the US Air Force network and operates 24/7/365. This position is located in Fairview Heights, IL with local travel occasionally required to the MAFPS primary customer site at Scott AFB, IL. The qualified applicant may be required to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift to support 24/7 customer operations.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Monitor health, availability and performance of individual MAFPS applications hosted in the Cloud One environment
- Manage the deployment of scheduled and unscheduled application updates
- Monitor interfaces to external services and source data providers
- Collaborate with Cloud One support staff and MAFPS developers to diagnose and resolve issues as needed
- Enter, disposition and track trouble tickets against MAFPS applications, internal/external services and third-party providers
- Actively participate in and document incident response and root-cause analysis.
- Closely work with the DevSecOps teams to support development, deployment and maintenance of containerized applications and automate orchestration.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
- US Citizenship with an active Secret clearance is required
- Experience monitoring and maintaining Cloud infrastructures
- System Administration experience with complex systems
- Active Security+ certification
- Experience troubleshooting issues and writing clear and concise trouble tickets
- Strong oral and written communication skills
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- 8+ years relevant work experience
- AWS Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer and/or SysOps Administrator certifications a plus
- Familiarity with USAF Cloud One operations
- Resourceful problem solver
- Experience with ServiceNow, Remedy, Jira or similar tools
- Self-starter and able to work with limited supervision
