Volunteer Behavioral Health is now hiring a BHSN Outreach Coordinator: Full time position available in Murfreesboro. Position will cover the following counties: Sumner, Macon, Clay, Trousdale, Smith, Wilson, Rutherford, Williamson, Cannon and Coffee County.

EXEMPLARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work as a children's services specialist under the Community and Business Development Team, which is tasked with strategically increasing brand awareness throughout the regions served in an effort to impact four key areas – Relationships/Reputation, Referrals, Recruitment, and Reinvestment.

  • Develop strong relationships with community agencies, various organizations and service providers such as, but not limited to, juvenile judges, children and youth services, school administrators and staff, pediatricians and related child and youth health care providers, mental health and substance abuse entities that serve children, department of children’s service, etc.
  • Work with local/regional coalitions and groups that support children and youth services, and the development of those groups in local communities.
  • Develop community outreach plans and implement initiatives in communities to ensure children and youth have access to services as outlined in the grant.
  • Assist with identifying eligible families in need of services.
  • Provide outreach activities focused on promotion of the new BHSN for Children program.
  • Coordinate with local child-serving agencies and the TDMHSAS funded School Based Behavioral Health Liaisons to promote awareness and access to the program.
  • Reach out to the communities assigned to the grant with focus on those communities and schools that do not have a School Based Behavioral Health Liaison.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all services available through the BHSN for Children
  • Complete referral paperwork and submit to the appropriate internal staff.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of program eligibility requirements, documentation requirements, and complete necessary paperwork within required timeframes.
  • Assist staff in locating and accessing services on behalf of enrolled families and maintain up-to-date resources.
  • Travel to covered areas.
  • Submit monthly a report outlining outreach and referral efforts to their assigned director in a format prescribed by the state to be reviewed and forwarded on to the State BHSN of TN staff.
  • Maintain records to assist assigned director to be able to give eligibility documentation, service utilization, training requirements, billing and reimbursement, and crediting back services to the BHSN for Children when reimbursed by TennCare.
  • Provide outcomes data to assigned director of referrals that the Outreach Coordinator has made to enroll children in the program.
  • Provide outcomes data to assigned director of Outreach Coordinator’s assistance in connecting and referring BHSN for Children enrollees to connect/refer to other behavioral health payor sources such as TennCare, CoverKids, etc.
  • Adhere to the Grant Budget maintaining records of all expenditures and submitting them internally to their assigned director with all grant details of such included.
  • Comply with obligations under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (“HIPAA”), Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (“HITECH”) Act and any other relevant laws and regulations regarding privacy.
  • Submit all grant related reports to the assigned director following due dates set up internally to allow timely reporting to the grantor.
  • brief, periodic, progress reports to the administrative director to review and forward to the State as requested.
  • Annual report to be submitted within three (3) months of the conclusion of each year of the Term.

QUALIFICATIONS (knowledge, skills, and abilities):

  • Knowledge of issues facing individuals in child serving systems, including substance abuse services and the legal system.
  • Knowledge of community resources and an ability to work within communities to develop new resources that assist families.
  • Excellent communication, writing and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with co-workers and individuals/entities in the community to be able to implement strategies that reflect the vision and goals of the program.
  • Must complete tasks in an independent manner as well as work closely with external customers.
  • Ability to understand and implement grant requirements and complete paperwork related to grant specifics is required.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a social services field. Experience working with children & youth and knowledge of child-serving systems is preferred. Experience with resource development, community outreach and children and youth programs is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $35,000.00 per year
