Our adult services represent well-established, quality, affordable day care program for aging and disabled adults 18 years and older. Neighborhood House is unique in the greater Salt Lake area, because of its longstanding history as well as quality programming that features intergenerational activities, gardening, and recreational interventions developed by a certified recreational therapist. The Position
The full or part-time position for Program Aide involves working with aging and disabled adults in a fun, familial, recreational therapy environment. The candidate will lead or assist in on and off-site daily activities with clients, relating to all adult clients in a positive manner, regardless of age or functional ability. The candidate will take a primary role in bus transport, serving meals, preparing and taking down activities, and supporting clients with individual care needs while at the center. To enhance effective function of the whole care team, the candidate should be highly responsible and collaborate easily with others. Preferred candidates should have initiative, evidenced by a willingness to assist with client needs or group activities as needed and without prompting.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain consistent interaction with aging and disabled adults, encouraging client engagement in all activities.
- Assist in serving / clearing two small snacks and lunch daily.
- Transport clients to/ from facility, and on outings when needed, by driving a van or small bus (no special permit needed).
- Clean and sanitize activity areas between groups of clients.
- On rotating basis, lead calendared activities as scheduled, including intergenerational activities.
- Create and maintain good working relationship with assigned clients.
- Assist clients with ambulation if needed, including on & off vans and in transition between activities.
- Maintain compliance with ADS Policies and Procedures, as well as policies in the Neighborhood House Employee Manual.
- Assist clients with toileting, personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, and other ADL’s as needed for all clients.
- Assist with set up and clean-up of materials used for daily activities.
- Attend mandatory in-service training, monthly from 6-8 pm, as scheduled on ADS calendar (FLEX scheduling applies).
- Maintain professional appearance and adherence to dress code.
- Be dependable and punctual in reporting for work.
- Represent professionalism, and maturity
- Always maintain confidentiality, comply with HIPPA Laws
- Ensure client safety and promote engagement.

Position Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- Able to physically assist clients with personal care and other activities of daily living as needed
- Able to lift 50 lbs. minimum
- Background screening through Utah Department of Human Services, Office of Licensing
- Drug screening at point of hire and randomly thereafter
- Salt Lake County Food Handlers Permit
- First Aid/ CPR Certificate
- TB Screening approval
- Satisfactory drug screening (conducted at point of hire and randomly thereafter)
- Valid Utah Driver’s License
The Benefits
Compensation includes an hourly wage from $15/hour DOE, plus health, vision & dental insurance, access to 401(k) savings plan, free childcare, and free lunch daily.
