As a Business Development Manager II (BDM) Sales Representative with ENGIE North America, your primary objective is to generate sales of Retail products to commercial and industrial (C&I) customers nationally through ENGIE’s broker/consultant sales channel to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities and abiding by Retail’s policies, processes and governance.


This position reports to the National Indirect Sales Team Director and is in Houston. This role is eligible for a hybrid and work-from-home work schedule.


What you’ll do:

  • Manage relationships with broker partners to hit sales targets with our partners and fulfill service expectations both to the partner and to their clients/Engie’s customers

  • Identify new partners and improve business with existing partners

  • Qualify broker’s interest by obtaining necessary consumption data and/or necessary account information required to provide a price proposal which is informed by their specific load pattern

  • Assess the needs of assigned brokers using questioning, listening and persuasive skills to influence the customers’ decision via the broker about the products they want to buy and assure that our proposal will meet or exceed their requirements. Understand ENGIE product offerings and articulate how our proposals will meet or exceed customer requirements

  • Propose electricity supply offers to assigned brokers and assure that brokers are evaluating offers on an “apples-to-apples” basis, thus increasing our odds of success in winning deals

  • Negotiate transaction terms & conditions with brokers using standard contracts and the expertise of our Legal team while relying on your knowledge of our margin guidance & your negotiation skills to reach agreement

  • Close transactions with brokers working with key functional support groups to assure proper service to the customer/broker and realization of the expected revenues and margins from the transaction

  • Acts as a team member with all employees of ENGIE staff

  • Complies with all ENGIE policies and procedures

  • Perform other duties as assigned


What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree or four-year degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field, or 4 years of directly related relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • MInimum of 2 years of Direct/Indirect sales experience in the retail energy industry is preferred
  • Persuasive communication, effective negotiation skills, and interaction with executive-level decision-makers
  • Ability to use a company computer to communicate via email and create presentations
  • A self-driven individual capable of quickly learning new products, processes, and systems
  • Ability to travel via airplane, car, and train as required
  • Ability Manage multiple assignments concurrently on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism

Additional Information/Conditions:

  • Must be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future
  • Must be available to travel domestically on limited occasions with the need for some overnight trips up to 15%
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record is required for travel and car rentals
  • Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

  • Salary Range: USD $51,425.00 - $130,650.00 annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan
