RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
Perform General Plant labor in all operational areas of the plant. Demonstrate a working knowledge of kiln and kiln-related systems. Clean bins, conveyers, spills, material from under conveyers and catwalks, and other cleaning duties as assigned. Continuously observe, monitor, and report any condition that could lead to equipment failure or a safety hazard. Ability to operate heavy equipment including vacuum truck, haul truck, bobcat, loader, man lift, forklift, shuttle wagon, and tractor in a safe manner. Assist maintenance in preventative care and minor repairs of equipment used. Assist in kiln outage work, as needed. Learn various entry level positions and cross train in other areas of the plant as needed. Responsible for completing equipment and work area inspections. Perform all assigned work adhering to Company and governmental safety rules and regulation and follow company lock out tag out procedures. Report any potential operational or safety problems to management.
ATTRIBUTES:
- Industrial background with good troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledgeable of current environmental regulations and practices as they relate to the lime industry.
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment is desired.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations is required.
- Must be able to work shift work, seven days a week including holidays and be flexible to schedule changes, including overtime.
- Must have a telephone and be open to call-outs.
- Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.
- Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
- Lift over 50 pounds.
- Effectively communicate and interact with supervisors, managers, and peers.
- Demonstrate the ability to operate a computer preferred.
Required Education: High School Diploma or GED.
