Trackside Services, Inc. is a heavy manufacturing company specializing in railroad equipment for more than 25 years. We have an excellent opportunity for the role of a AWS Certified Welder, or welding equivalent of 5+ years of recent welding experience.

Position Summary

This welding position reports to the plant manager and production manager and maintains the work schedule in place to meet shipping deadlines. This position is responsible for MIG welding with accuracy and quality control of parts being processed; ensuring workplace safety and adherence to policies and procedures in place.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Set up and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using fixtures and/or blue prints combined with measuring devices.
  • Able to weld with MIG Wire up to .045
  • Pre heat parts up to 450 degrees F.
  • Weld plates or parts up to 2” in thickness.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in MIG welding machines for daily set up and maintenance.
  • Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, squareness or imperfections on parts.
  • Removes rough spots from work piece, using a grinder, hand chisel, or pneumatic chisel.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical or angled positions.
  • Set up parts per blue print drawing using fixtures or other measuring devices.
  • Responsible for maintaining safety standards and a clean and organized workplace.
  • Assist co-workers as needed.

Skills & Experience/Minimum Requirements:

AWS Weld certificate of training or the equivalent of

  • 5+ years of recent experience if no certificate of training.
  • Air-Arc experience not required, but is desired.
  • Experience welding with hard-surfaced wire (i.e. Stoody) is not required, but is desired.
  • Able to read basic welding blue prints.
  • Work with set goals and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and imperfections in parts or work.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Safety orientated individual.
  • Good relations, communication skills, and must be able to interact well with co-workers and management.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment, and be willing to work flexible hours and weekends as required.
  • MIG welder use: set up and maintenance of machine.
  • Be able to use and read a tape measure to 1/32nds of an inch.
  • Carpenter’s square, combination square, level; and, basic welding tools.
  • Pneumatic/Electric Grinders.

*All tools, PPE and equipment are supplied by the company. Personal tools and PPE are not allowed on the job site.
