Position Description Princeton University seeks a demographer for an Associate Research Scholar position in the Office of Population Research. The Associate Research Scholar would work on an NIH-funded project on migration and U.S. mortality. They would conduct collaborative research on how domestic and international migration influence geographic inequality in mortality both within the U.S. and between the U.S. and other high-income countries. They would contribute to both data analysis and co-authorship of research articles. The project is directed by Professors Arun Hendi (Princeton) and Jessica Ho (Penn State), and the successful candidate would work directly with both PIs to fulfill the project aims. The appointment would be a three year appointment as an Associate Research Scholar. Qualifications Essential: *Ph.D. in demography, sociology, economics, or related field *Expertise in the analysis of mortality, survey data methods, and life table methods *Familiarity with the use of vital statistics data *Ability to write code in R and/or Stata for statistical and demographic analyses *Strong interpersonal communication and excellent writing, problem-solving, and time management skills *Ability to work independently and collaboratively on research teams Preferred: *Experience conducting research on geographic inequalities in mortality or health *Experience using large U.S. Census datasets *Expertise in event history/survival analysis *A record of publication in top demography journals *Meets eligibility requirements for U.S. Census Special Sworn Status (SSS) To apply, please visit https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/29521 This position is subject to the University's background check policy.
