Job Description

Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Under the general direction of the Director, the Associate Registrar is responsible for the production and accuracy of the master schedule for academic courses, ensuring optimal resource utilization of general-purpose classrooms, provide support for registration and academic personnel, support compliance and reporting that informs the development and refinement of policies and procedures related to academic scheduling and space utilization, Transfer VA equivalency data files updates. Under limited supervision and in the absence of the Registrar, administers the overall operations of the Registrar’s office, including areas such as management of student records, official and unofficial transcripts, grade petitions, graduation process, monitoring academic guidelines, degree audit system, Navigate plans, and staff related matters. Ensures compliance with Family Rights and Privacy Act and all other applicable laws and regulations.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.



KSA's/Required Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution; and at least 3 years’ experience in a Registrar’s Office setting with experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Considerable working knowledge of academic standards governing student probation, suspension, and/or expulsion; and knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards. Considerable knowledge of student records management. Demonstrated advanced information technology skills to include advanced skills in Excel and CSV file creation and maintenance. Considerable knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act. Demonstrated technical writing skills (i.e., policies or procedure manuals). Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student, faculty and community populations. Demonstrated organizational, communication and interpersonal skills; and in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues; and develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals. Ability to train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments; and fostering a cooperative work environment. The selected candidate will be required to complete the Commonwealth’s Statement of Economic Interest.

Preferred Qualifications
Current knowledge of Early-Alert Systems such as Navigate or Starfish; and Ad Astra course and room scheduling information system. Considerable experience using PeopleSoft Student Information System and Navigate CRM is preferred. Experience with AACRAO (American Association of Collegiate Registrar and Admissions Officers) industry standards and best practices is also preferred.
