Job Summary
The Assistant Account Marketing Manager (AAMM) drives the creation and launch of marketing campaigns for a select group of Scotts Miracle-Gro Brands by partnering with the Account Marketing Manager, brand team, marketing services team, and external agencies. This position reports to the Account Marketing Manager. When applicable, the AAMM will have one or two marketing analysts and is responsible for their growth and development.
The AAMM is a mid-tier position within the integrated team. The role blends the responsibilities of the Account Marketing Manager and Marketing Analyst on a smaller set of brands to enable critical professional development and talent growth within the integrated account team at SMG.
Responsibilities
Integrated Planning
  • Leads annual, bi-annual, or quarterly planning process for assigned brands under the direction of the Account Marketing Manager; Actively work with their Account Marketing Manager and Brand partners to develop objectives, briefs, and communication documents.
  • Connect dots across internal and external marketing teams to ensure we create a cohesive, integrated marketing plan. Creates planning timelines and ensures an integrated plan is developed and the creative needed to fulfill the plan is on strategy, achieves business and communication objectives and delivers on time.

Account & Project Management
  • In collaboration with the Account Marketing Manager, leads kickoffs on assigned Brand Marcom projects. Actively facilitate and participate in briefing internal and external partners.
  • Work in collaboration with your Account Marketing Manager, the retail marketing analyst team, shopper marketing and the media team to help ensure we're creating omni marketing campaigns from the first consumer touchpoint through to shelf.
  • Creative Development & Archiving:
Manage the development of all assigned assets to deliver campaigns on time. Regularly communicate the status of the campaign development. Ensures assets are properly archived with associated rights in Workflow/Tracker for record keeping and potential future use.
  • Ensure proper approvals through regulatory, legal, brand, etc… are obtained, documented, and stored for all creative they manage, in addition to their Account Marketing Manager’s creative campaigns.
  • Work with agencies and internal teams to develop and track timelines. Hold all parties accountable to the timeline set, move projects forward and meet the deadlines set. Actively participate in Workfront/Tracker projects. Regularly update SMG marketing team on project strategy, creative, status of projects to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Open projects in Workfront, as needed. Ensure proper documentation is captured in Workfront projects.
  • Serve as primary POC for assigned projects. Provide thorough communication within the internal teams and agencies. Build relationships across functions and agencies to foster trust and transparency. Know when things are headed off track, work with Account Marketing Manager to prioritize work, moderate conflict, and bring proactive solutions.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of all commercial shoots and photoshoots in collaboration with the Creative Manager and external agency.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 4-6 years of comparable experience in account management or other relevant work experience; agency account management experience is preferred.
  • Experience in marcom planning, advertising, creative and concept development, and agency/vendor management is needed..
  • Strong strategic and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to influence and lead across the organization – across, up, and down.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively across functions and personality types.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Proven project management skills with experience balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Must know how to navigate a complex, cross-functional environment and add value.
  • Adaptability and ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Possess a strong work ethic with the ability to anticipate needs, work independently, and take initiative.
  • Intellectual curiosity with the drive to always learn more.
  • Proficient in Google Environment (Google docs, spreadsheets, presentations and Gmail) Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; other creative platforms a plus.
The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $83,000.00 - $97,700.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
