Job description

Located in Victor, NY, Teknic is looking for entry-level, first shift, Production Operators for light-duty assembly of electronic and electro-mechanical products.

We are an innovative manufacturer of high-performance robotic equipment components, headquartered in Victor, NY. Based on our success and continued growth, we have recently enlarged our manufacturing division, and we now have a number of immediate openings for first-shift Production Operators (7am-3:30pm, Mon-Fri).

As a Teknic Production Operator, you will learn to assemble and test of a variety of electronic and electro-mechanical products. The electronic products are servo amplifiers and controls that range in size from about the size of a deck of cards to the size of a shoe box. The electro-mechanical products are mainly high-performance servo motors. A Production Operator also handles some non-assembly tasks, for example, receiving and inspecting incoming parts, taking inventory, processing customer returns, etc.

You do not need experience in product assembly to be successful with this opportunity. Teknic will provide all of your necessary training. Here is what is required:

  • You must be able to learn Teknic assembly procedures so that you can build our electronic and mechanical products productively and at a high level of quality. We have roughly ten different types of assembly cells, from which we make many different products. Each step in the process to make a product is a relatively simple mechanical task, but there are usually many steps, and they must be done in the correct order and always exactly as instructed. A motivated person can learn how to operate one new cell in about a day, and be fully productive in that cell within a few weeks.
  • You must have the following skills and physical capabilities:

- good hand-to-eye coordination and fine motor skills (you will be working with small individual parts like screws, and larger parts about the size/weight of a brick);

- above-average short-term memory and ability to multi-task;

- ability to lift up to 40 pounds from floor level to a height of 65 inches (a few times a day),

- ability to stand for long periods (up to an entire shift), walk, reach within arms length, stoop, and bend at the waist;

- have corrected vision and hearing good enough to detect quality problems; for example, be able to see small scratches on a polished part, hear the sound of a moving part lightly rubbing on another part, etc.

As with any assembly job, there is a fair amount of repetitive work, but because we will cross-train you for as many different cells as possible, the work is more varied than a typical assembly job.

This position is very important to Teknic's on-going growth and prosperity. We've invested a lot in our manufacturing division to make sure your production environment is safe, bright, clean and comfortable. And we will work hard to make sure that you'll have all the tools and training you need to be successful. You just need to be willing to learn, and motivated to put in solid effort every day.

Compensation:

  • Your starting base wage will be $15/hour. As soon as you are fully cross-trained, you will earn $16/hour.
  • You will have a generous benefit package that includes health insurance, an HRA (health reimbursment account fully funded by Teknic) that can be used to pay medical bills, 17 days of paid vacation days and holidays in your first year (22 days in the second year), and a retirement plan where Teknic will match your contributions at a rate of 200% (up to 4% of your salary), with immediate vesting.
