About the Position

Are you an experienced readers’ advisor who is looking to step into a leadership role helping to shape adult services? The Glen Ellyn Public Library seeks an enthusiastic, collaborative problem-solver to help chart the next chapter for our vibrant Adult Department spaces, services, and programs. The Adult Department Assistant Director supports the Adult Director in the daily operations of the department, including supervising assigned staff, providing high quality customer service, and leading reader-focused programs and initiatives for the department.

Other responsibilities will include:

• Managing the Adult Department in the absence of the Department Director

• Training and supporting library staff and volunteers
• Creating displays, reading lists, and facilitating readers’ programs and outreach, including book club services
• Working at the adult reference desk and providing reference, readers’ advisory, tech help, and passport assistance
