Admissions Coordinator

We are hiring an Admissions Coordinator for our new state of the art Healthcare Center, Gadsden Glen Center for Health and Rehab, at Bishop Gadsden located conveniently on James Island, SC! . The Admissions Coordinators primary role will be to establish and maintain systems that assure effective and efficient admissions of residents. Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement marketing strategies and community outreach initiatives with the objective of maintaining the budgeted occupancy rate in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for inquiry and referral generation, handling and completion of the admission process in accordance with facility policy and procedure.
  • Interview potential residents and residents’ families/representatives to collect accurate initial data for admission purposes and enter information into MatrixCare Marketing CRM.
  • Recommend admission based on need of the potential resident, their appropriateness to the community, and their financial ability.
  • Understand and effectively communicate Bishop Gadsden’s contract types.
  • Follow admission, transfer, and discharge policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of current regulations governing Medicare and private insurance company reimbursement.
  • Analyze, track and maintain good working relationship and communication with hospital discharge planners and case managers.
  • Visit potential short-term rehab patients in the hospital to assess for admission.
  • Assess and respond to hospital referrals in a timely manner.
  • Facilitates admission decisions and ensures a positive experience for each resident and their family.
  • Conduct admission screening of potential patients, determine level of care, services required, equipment needs and insurance coverage, as indicated. Ensure appropriate clinical acceptance in a timely manner.
  • Educate potential residents and families on sub-acute rehabilitation expectations, including but not limited to the following: Physician/Nursing/Therapy Services, pharmacy services/expectations, discharge management, Return to Hospital process, in house programing and services available (i.e. x-ray, laboratory services, beautician, etc.), and the benefits of programs and the options of LTC, Memory Care and Assisted Living if appropriate in the future.
  • Problem-solve service issues with tact and resourcefulness. Demonstrate positive referrer satisfaction and account retention.
  • Communicate admissions data in a written and verbal form to the nursing department, administration and environmental services in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all admission documents are completed and signed prior to admission.
  • Confirm pre-requisites of admission are completed.
  • Orient new residents and residents’ families/representatives to the facility on admission.
  • Coordinate the admission of new residents with other department supervisors/directors as needed (ie: culinary services, activities, housekeeping, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate facility census data using MatrixCare system and run the census report daily.
  • Attend and participate in any required and/or relative continuing education programs.
  • Track and follow up on all Bishop Gadsden residents in the hospital, communicating status to the team daily.
  • Participate in Healthcare on-call on a rotating basis.
  • Maintain basic working knowledge of all residential options and levels of service at Bishop Gadsden.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field required, or education and experience sufficient to successfully complete essential job functions.
  • Experience with Medicare regulation and Medicare billing

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written.
  • Ability to read and comprehend numbers and written material.
  • Ability to direct daily activities with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to work with computer programs as needed.
  • Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and Bishop Gadsden employees.
