Basic Job Functions:

The successful candidate must ensure all accounting records are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices, supervise and manage the month-end accounting system close process, produce all corporate and divisional reporting requirements, and ensure proper internal controls are maintained. This position reports directly to the Controller and will serve as their backup, and provide leadership of accountants, accounts payable and finance clerks. The candidate must also possess the ability to develop an in-depth understanding of the production environment and function as a financial liaison with the division management team. This role will also be an integral part of developing teammates from all departments while being a contributing member of the division leadership team. The successful candidate must be willing and able to relocate to take on further leadership responsibilities within Nucor, now, and in the future.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business
  • Two years of experience in accounting, finance, or business

  • Business Acumen: General business knowledge and an understanding of how Nucor makes money.

  • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work: Developing specific goals and plans for prioritizing, organizing, and accomplishing individual work and/or the work of the team.
  • Teamwork: Working as part of a coordinated effort with others to achieve a common goal
  • Problem Solving & Judgment/Decision Making: Identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options in order to choose the most appropriate solution.
  • Coaching and Developing Others – Demonstrated ability to be committed and effective at coaching teammates. Identifying the strengths and developmental needs of others to include coaching, mentoring, teaching, training, or otherwise helping others to improve their skills to work effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP or similar ERP experience
  • Prior financial leadership experience
  • Two years of experience in manufacturing or cost accounting
  • CPA, CMA, Master’s Degree, or MBA
