    OVERVIEW
    To provide assistance to the school principal(s) on all assigned activities of the school site; to give individual assistance to students with academic, attendance and behavioral problems; and to assist in the supervision of selected extra-curricular activities. This person will also assist students in resolving interpersonal problems and conflicts and improve school and class attendance that enables student success in school.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Currently hold a Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsement (or CDE licensure application in process)
    • Colorado Administrator’s License, preferred.
    • Experience in social emotional learning and/or social work
    • Knowledge of function-based intervention planning for developing behavior change strategies that focuses on reducing problem behavior and increasing more appropriate behavior.
    • Knowledge of techniques needed to successfully complete Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), function-based interventions, and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
    • Knowledge in research based instructional strategies and ability to implement them effectively.
    • Knowledge in the use of technology to support instruction.
    • Demonstrate ability to plan and evaluate strategies for improved instructions.
    • Ascribes to the philosophy that all children can succeed and demonstrates the commitment to do what is necessary to make this a reality.
    • Demonstrate skill in the roles of a teacher leader: collaborator, action researcher, reflective practitioner and learner advocate.
    • Maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Works closely with the Principal(s), school counselors, staff, students and parents to build and maintain a positive and safe school climate and culture.
    • Builds positive relationships with students, staff, parents, community, and outside agencies.
    • Facilitate team meetings with the identified student’s teachers and parents for the purpose of completing a Functional Behavioral Assessment.
    • Confers with students, parents, teachers and building administration where individual student academic, behavioral and attendance issues exist.
    • Facilitate team meetings that: design Behavior Interventions Plans; address classroom organization, effective instruction, social skills instruction, and ethical issues; School-wide Positive Behavioral Support; and factors that affect effectiveness including social validity and treatment integrity.
    • Work with individual teachers, groups of teachers and/or the entire staff on issues such as: crisis intervention, learning and collaboration issues, and factors that can affect development and implementation of interventions.
    • Promote highly specialized positive behavior interventions in which “at risk” students thrive: behavior instruction that is explicit, intensive, accelerated and provides ample practice.
    • Maintains effective relationships with representatives of law enforcement and social welfare agencies in connection with student issues.
    • Assist teachers and counselors to better understand and work more effectively with students having school related problems.
    • Compiles, analyzes, and shares student discipline and attendance data used in administrative decision-making.
    • Coordinates school efforts with community agencies and authorities in student-related matters.
    • Implements student behavior and attendance expectations in accordance with District policies and State law.
    • Resolves student behavior and attendance concerns in a fair and timely manner and maintains records of disciplinary or referral actions taken.
    • Collaborates with school counselors, staff and administration to create and maintain research-based (MTSS) interventions, and at the direction of the Principal(s), trains faculty and staff in implementation of interventions, strategies and policies.
    • Works as a member of the school safety team(s) to ensure school safety and security.
    • Assists principal(s) in the overall administration of grades K-2 programming.
    • Attends appropriate meetings regarding student behavioral, social/emotional, and academic wellbeing.
    • With the appropriate license, will coach and provide feedback to teachers and to staff.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job

    EDUCATION A ND T RAINING
    • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
    • Colorado Teaching License.
    • Preference given for Administrator’s License.

    • Dedication to high standards of excellence and the success of all students; ability to personalize instruction for students so that all are challenged to learn
    • Data-driven evidence of closing the achievement gap and deep knowledge of instructional practices that will do so
    • Technologically literate and motivated to use technology to enhance learning
    • Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

    SALARY
    Per the Bayfield School District Dean of Students TOSA salary schedule and based on education and years of experience.
