Who We Want

As the 0991 Labor Relations Manager, you will report to the Chief of Labor Relations, and serve as the project manager for the Labor Relations team - tracking both the status of active labor negotiations and overseeing the implementation of commitments made in collective bargaining agreements. You will also perform professional employee relations staff duties, including research, analysis and studies, labor negotiation support, grievance processing, dispute resolution and other employee relations activities. You will provide information on employee relations policies and procedures to District employees, and coordinate and direct other departments to support implementation of labor agreements and related business processes - specifically through the implementation of a new employee information system (SAP SuccessFactors).

We expect our 0991 Labor Relations Manager will:

  • Manage assigned files, including electronic files, for cases handled by Labor Relations.
  • Track and organize active proposals in collective bargaining, setting deadlines for the labor relations team to make sure that proposals are developed and exchanged in a timely manner at the bargaining table.
  • Track implementation of policies created in collective bargaining across the organization; work collaboratively and direct staff in other divisions to implement policies created in collective bargaining in an accurate and timely way.
  • Help facilitate the negotiations process by serving as note-taker during bargaining to accurately and succinctly create a written record of bargaining sessions.
  • Research and provide accurate information and data to the Chief Negotiator as needed.
  • Prepare written summaries in narrative, outline or graphic form, and a variety of other tasks related to the management of cases for Labor Relations.
  • With guidance, explain provisions of the collective bargaining agreements, policies and administrative regulations related to Employee and Labor Relations, to District management.
  • Provide Labor Relations expertise and guidance on business processes and decisions for SAP SuccessFactors implementation.
  • Facilitate engagement with the unions on all impacts of business process transformations, as well as communicate regarding other change impacts and opportunities for training.
  • Participate in all relevant project team meetings for SAP SuccessFactors implementation (i.e. standing team meetings, business process design sessions, system testing, training, etc.)
  • Support ongoing Labor related business processes in SFUSD systems (i.e. SAP SuccessFactors).
  • Prepare routine correspondence and reports.
  • Manage intake, documentation, timeline and closures of grievances, unfair practice charges and requests for information.
  • Assist in preparation of resolutions, collective bargaining agreements and other documents for submission to the Board of Education.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $98,416.00 - $134,433.00 per year
